THE ACCOUNTANT 2

It finally hits the screens. Sequel to the underrated 2016 The Accountant. 11 years later we are treated to the next adventure. Sadly Anna Kendrick is not returning for it, but bearing in mind they appear to be going for a rival siblings, buddy film. Screen time may have been too short for her and this way there is time for us to really get into the brother’s stories.

Forensic accountant Christian Wolff teams up with his estranged but highly lethal brother to track down mysterious assassins. Starring Ben Affleck, never a fan of Ben before I saw the Accountant but it certainly made a big fan of me. Hopefully this one will be as good and surprising.

DROP

Feels as though it is being released on the big screen but was written for smaller one. The trailer plays like an advert for a dating app. However, still a fan of Blumhouse, waiting for that next big film where the quality returns to the likes of Insidious, Megan and Get Out.

Violet is a widowed mother who goes to an upscale restaurant to meet Henry, her charming and handsome date. However, her pleasant evening soon turns into a living nightmare when she receives phone messages from a mysterious, hooded figure who threatens to kill her young son and sister unless she kills Henry.

SINNERS

Set in the 1930s in Southern United States, the film stars Michael B. Jordan in a dual role as twin brothers who return to their hometown but are faced with a greater evil. The film also features Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Benson Miller, Li Jun Li, and Delroy Lindo

This could be something of gem or not. Unseen at time of writing, the trailer has not given much away. Michael B Jordan in two roles could be challenging but definitely something worth taking a look at.

THE PENGUIN LESSONS

“The Penguin Lessons” follows an Englishman, Tom Michell, who, while working at a boarding school in Argentina in 1976, rescues a penguin during a holiday in Uruguay, transforming his life and that of those around him.

Based on a 2015 memoir by Tom Michelle, there are bound to be people thinking, Is this a remake of Mr Poppers Penguins. No, it is not. That was a children’s story, whereas this is a dramatic comedy with some harsh scenes of penguins at the beginning covered in oil. For those worried though and considering not seeing it in case the penguin does not survives. Fear not, it is an uplifting and triumphant film.
