Bolton Film Festival returns from 30 September to 4 October 2026, marking its tenth edition as a major celebration of short-form filmmaking. The festival has also an online programme running from 7 to 18 October.

The 2026 festival features an impressive 305 short films, selected from almost 4,000 submissions representing more than 120 countries. The programme includes world, European and UK premieres, alongside films from emerging filmmakers and established directors.

Beyond screenings, audiences can attend masterclasses, workshops, talks, networking sessions and industry events covering subjects such as animation, documentary filmmaking, screenwriting and careers in film. The programme also includes VR and 360° experiences, making the festival a broad showcase of contemporary cinema.
