The EE BAFTA Film Awards ceremony was held at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in London and broadcasted as-live on BBC One and iPlayer and internationally, as part of an unmissable celebration of British and global film hosted by multi-award-winning actor, writer, producer and TV host, AlanCumming.

The 2026 BAFTA Film Awards delivered a ceremony defined by bold filmmaking, breakout performances, and a clear standout: One Battle After Another. The film emerged as the dominant force of the night, winning Best Film and reinforcing its awards-season momentum with victories in Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Best Director and Editing.

The acting categories brought defining career moments. Robert Aramayo had a breakthrough night, winning Leading Actor and also taking home the EE Rising Star Award — a rare double that signals a major leap forward in his career. Leading Actress went to Jessie Buckley, whose performance stood out in a highly competitive field. In supporting categories, Sean Penn (One Battle After Another) won Supporting Actor, while Wunmi Mosaku (Sinners) secured Supporting Actress, further highlighting the global mix of talent honored this year.

Beyond the headline categories, technical excellence played a major role in shaping the 2026 BAFTA winners list. Frankenstein emerged as the craft leader of the ceremony, earning awards for Costume Design, Make Up & Hair, and Production Design. Meanwhile, Sinners made its mark with wins for Original Screenplay and Original Score, demonstrating the Academy’s recognition of bold, original storytelling.

British cinema remained at the heart of the event. Hamnet was named Outstanding British Film, reinforcing the strength of domestic filmmaking, while My Father’s Shadow won Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer. In the short film categories, This Is Endometriosis and Two Black Boys in Paradise claimed top honors, showcasing powerful storytelling in shorter formats.

International and genre filmmaking were also celebrated. Sentimental Value won Film Not in the English Language, while Zootropolis 2 took Animated Film. In documentary, Mr. Nobody Against Putin captured the award, and blockbuster filmmaking was recognized with Special Visual Effects going to Avatar: Fire and Ash. The Sound category honored F1, underscoring the technical ambition behind large-scale productions.

The longlists for all 25 categories including Best Film, Director, Cinematography, Casting, Documentary, Film Not in the English Language, the four performance categories, Children’s & Family Film category, and more, are published here.
